I have a 97 ZR 580 I am finally putting back together after replacing the main drive bearings etc. A guy helping me was tightening one of the lock nuts on the chain case side. One of the three studs broke where the flange tightens on around the bearing with the oring seal on it. The stud bolt is part# 0623-317. Is there a way to get the stud out? We can't seem to get it to budge?

That one is a 2sided stud with a serrated shank that is pressed into the chain case. To remove it you will need to take the chain case completely out of the sled and use a pin punch to drive the old stud out of the case. Then you just take the new stud and press or tap it in with a hammer. Be careful how the case is supported so that you don't put any undue stress on the case and crack it. Probably should replace all three of those at least.

Agree with 109 for sure. There's O rings on those bolts also, I would replace them too as long as its apart. Just my .02.
