Putting new pistons in the rig tonight and I'm curious how much oil to use for break in. AC says 100:1 in the manual and SPI recommends 50:1. It's a 1999 ZR600 Carb if that matters. Also, will it matter that I have Amsoil HP in the oil tank and only have Mobil 2xt synthetic for the gas tank?
I don't know if it matters but, for break in on a four stroke you are supposed to avoid synthetic oil (too slippery) because the rings take a long time to seat. With power valve engines needing clean burning oil which is normally synthetic it may not be an issue.
Mixing oil should have no effect.
