I have a 2004 650 V2 It hasnt been ridden too much in the past year only has ll0 hours on it and 500 miles. I recently moved to AK and use it for plowing. I starts doesnt idle the best and when it gets warmed up backfires when reved Hasnt lost any power. Could the carbs need cleaning and maybe a tune up. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

could be dirty carb, likely since it sat. could also be lean from cold air or a drop in elevation.

Here's what I would do. I would clean the carbs to start with, and while you've got the carbs off the machine, I would contact a local dealer to see what they use for jetting in AK. Given the altitude and temperature changes from your prior location, it could change your jetting needs. My initial hunch is that your jets are slightly plugged, and that will cause it to run lean (thus causing the backfiring).
