Have a 2007 500 auto, are the metal rods inside the bushings supposed to move or are tgey supposed to be up against the brackets on the bike. Reason I’m asking is that if i torque the bushings to 45lbs the post doesnt touch the bracket, almost as if the bracket is slightly bent out.

Check to see if you are bottoming out on the bolt with the nut without the control arm in place. If the control arm frame brackets are spread out a bit that may happen. The rod or "collar" which is what Cat calls it would more than likely seize up on bolt. Does the collar stick out on both ends when installed in the control arm with bushings installed? The bushings fit snug in control arm so bushing would rotate on the collar. I put anti-seize or grease on bolt and grease on outside of collar when installing. I go through these every couple of years to keep them clean and greased.
