98 Kodiak heating power issue

Just picked up a 1998 Kodiak that has been sitting for awhile. After some work I got it running, however it seems to be under power and has no kick when full throttle. Ive cleaned out the carb a few times. Wondering what else I can try to fix this?

You need to figure out if it's starving for fuel, air or if it can't push the air out.

I've had to pull carb off 3-4 times before I got it clean. I'm much more through now. A fine wire, compressed air, soaking in cleaner are all needed sometimes.

Is it smoking? Pull the spark plug and see what it looks like. Light tan is good coloring. Replace if you haven't.

Is the intake and exhaust clear & unrestricted? Mice love to nest in those spots.

I'd start with a compression test, its got some yrs on it, so, if rode hard and parked,
it could need a top end, thus explaining power loss!

Absolutely do a compression test if you have the equipment or access to it.
