I recently picked up an 86 jag in quite good condidtion for a really good price. I was able to get it running well and replaced some basic age wear items but the electrical system has me stumped. When I start the sled the lights will generally get very bright and blow. I replaced the voltage regulator and made sure the headlight is only seeing 12v so I am unsure why this is happening with one exception, the voltage is in ac. Are these older sleds suposed to have ac voltage going to the lights or is there some diode that is perhaps shorted that is allowing for the lights to be getting the full ac wave off the stator? Is there something else I am missing entireally?
Thanks!
