Wifes' cousin blew a piston in his Wifes 99 zr500. He was just about to move her up into a firecat anyway, so he's not gonna fix it. He offered it to me for $300 just to get it out of his garage. I don't really need another one, but its in fantastic shape so I can't turn it down and can keep it around for another back up. Anyway, I have a spare 98 zr600 in the garage that I use as a parts sled. Still has a complete drive train in it. What do I need to drop it into the 500? I know the bottom end is the same anyway. They are both Efi. Do I need to swap the ecu over? Anything else?

Sweet. Thanks for the reply. Didn't even think about the pipe and can. Originally was gonna buy some pistons and go that route. But then I thought about having the extra 600 and might as well go that route because it wont cost me a dime. The Wifes old 600 had a cracked bulkhead so I just kept it around to steal parts for all the other sleds.
