I have a 400 artic cat year 2004. The engine has been changed and the service manual doesn't match my engine. Mine has one cam and the book shows two. How do I determine what year the engine is?

What book do you have that shows two? No utility 400 has two cams.

Your looking at the DVX section of whatever book you have. Only the DVX 400’s have dual cams. Pretty well everything is different between a DVX and utility 400’s.

No you do not need to pull off the head just the valve cover 10 mm socket. Take the valve covers off also there are two bolts that need to come out as well.
