i received my 2014 zr 7000 sno pro limited and ran it against my dads 2014 zr 8000. We ran about 1000 ft 3 times on the lake about 1 to 2 inches of snow, who ever got the hole shot won. We both have 135 woodys gold diggers 1.325"studs. Needless to say i am extremly happy with the performance of this new 4 stroke cat

after riding my 8000rr for 45 miles I am convinced these are not running like an 800 should. They wall about 85. The clutching is terrible and a lot left on the table. My sp500 with the 700 in it would smoke this sled when it ran right. the 60 to 100mph is not there on the 800.

mines a 14.. I will have my 09 doo 800 and a 2012 etch 800 to compare it too this coming weekend. Maybe I am expecting too much haha. I will bet heavier tipped clutch weights wake this sled up big time. It gets up to about 85-90 but starts falling flat and over revs.

I've lucked out with my 13... Clutching is bang on from factory. Spins up to 8150 and drops down to 7950 and slowly climbs. She pulls like a freight train. I've raced my buddies new viper... He got the whole shot on me... But about 60 mph I passed him like he was standing still. No way should a 800 even come close to the 7000. The 7000 is a dog after 65 mph...

I dunnoI dunno that should be no contest, the 6000 should stay with the 7000,same HP lighter sled, the 800 should not even be considered in this category, on any given day my 800 cfr is faster then an apex?? Cat happyCat happy
Exactly my point, the OP was stating that between the the 7000 and his dads zr8000 it was purely won by hole shot. Seeing as it could go back and forth is obviously telling me the 8000 is setup horribly.

I'm a long time Doo guy with a couple Yamaha & Poo's in there. I WANT SO BAD TO BUY A NEW CAT (ZR9000 or 7000) BUT I HAVE FOWOWED THIS FORUM FOR 2 YEARS & IT KEEPS COMING BACK THAT CAT IS BUILDING 1980's QUALITY PRODUCT & THEN NOT STANDING BEHIND IT! Coming from another brand (for the price they all need to step up!!) CAT should be proud of their ingenuity but ashsamed of their tendency to dump unproven **** on their loyal customer base! I deal in the fork lift business & I wish I had the brand loyalty Cat has! After reading the **** Cat customers do to get not only dial in their sleds but o make them semi-reliable is beyond me! If my forklifts where like that I'd be out of business! We are into 2014! There is & should not be any tolerance for this ****! This business practice sounds like China! I hate China & want to buy a Cat but it has be US built with US quality parts & by a US company that gives a ****! If not I buy Doo is guess, but not their 5000 mile 2 strokes....been there done that. Maybe it's time to buy a *** Yamaha or maybe just get out of it!

need to up date this. I was my dealer today to get some oil. Alot of people are complaining about slow 14s. IMO It is the clutches them selves and they take more miles than usual to break in. Mine was a turd until roughly 800 miles and it woke up. I picked up at least 10mph on the top end and pulls much harder. It will pull away from a etch at 90 MPH. My 09 doo would smoke my sled when it only had 600 miles on it. Not the case now. I have 1300 miles on the sled now. On a plowed road it will now pull 116 on the speedo and roughly 104 on a groomed rail grade. When the sled had low miles on it, it would not break 100 on the same rail grade.

cehyoopers, I'll give the rant part....a little carried away there. Although lots of BRP quads are built in Mexico the sleds are still made in Canada, at this point. Most of the mainline fork lifts, Cat, Mitsubishi, Hyster, Yale, Toyota, Komatsu, TCM have plants in the U.S.A. that manufacture for the North & South American market. Albeit most of the engines are from Japan. Sound familar? Cat building great sleds....they design great sleds but look at the posts here....not built great! That said once they get these machines dialed in I'll buy one. Till then, winter is too short & I don't have time to rectify manufacturing issues. There seems to be a load of loyal Cat riders on this forum with great ideas & fixes, kudos to them! I'm an Ontario rider like you & work way too many hours to make a living & have some toys & just can't dedicate that time & money to 10 to 12 weekends of riding.

Sorry to offtrack this topic.....what I really wanted to get was feedback on the ZR7000, but the topic seemed to change to why the ZR8000 wasn't kicking it's ass? I will check out the ZR6000 comments as I am interested in Cat's 2 stroke.
