Doesn't matter if in reverse or forward gear every so often it would make a grinding sound and jump out of gear Plowing snow the other morning it got bad had a loud banging noise in both reverse and forward Managed to limp it into garage but lost reverse while doing so
Has a steady banging from undernearh while driving forward into garage Going to put it up on blocks today was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to proceed,

It definitely sounds like a belt / clutch issue. Hopefully it’s not the internal wet clutch. Take your primary apart and check for broken rollers.

Hopefully it’s not the bevel gears. That’s an internal issue that involve splitting the cases. Does it have the turf saver diff in it?

Sure, if belt grabs and then slips, it would feel the same. Also what @doorfx said about the bevel gears is highly probable too.

dont know what a turf saver diff is
It allows the rear wheels to turn at different speed on sharp turns. It won’t tear up a lawn like an ATV.
