Has anyone seen one in a dealership yet? I really like them, but they resemble a Can-Am to me. Not that that's a bad thing...I think they look sharp. The MSRP isn't too bad for them...$6700. I like the fact it's a recreational or "Crossover" ATV. It has the best of both worlds: the 4x4 capability of the workhorse bikes, and the trail-blistering speed of a sport quad.

Thoughts? Opinions? Cheese and crackers?

Dammit...it's a rebrand. Guess I've been under a rock too much lately.

I think it's a great machine and a great idea for Cat to get into this niche. The fact that they partnered with Kymco to build it doesn't change my opinion in the least. I've got a Kymco Mongoose that I picked up as a spare for friends to ride, and they love it and I do too. It was faithful for the last owner and it's faithful for me. Back to the new model; this thing is going to attract a whole new group of buyers for Cat. I predict they're going to sell like hotcakesCat happy

Made in Taiwan. Just what we need: more Asian products. I'm not so hot over these now. I'm not suggesting that these ATV's are junk...they achieved certification to ISO 14004:2004, which means they're standards are pretty high as far as quality goes. I just think AC could have done better by not cloning someone else's ATV. It's almost a carbon copy. They look sharp, but I'm not a fan of copycat bikes.

X2 about the copy cat bikes!

Yep and they just used somone elses quad put their stickers on it and stuck a really high price on it. I only paid $6,400 otd for my 650 and that was new in 2008 not a left over, so $6,700 for a "450" is alot IMO. and even more for a quad made in Taiwan..

I am also disappointed that cat just re badged another one of kymcos machine.

I am keeping my hopes up though. Maybe this machine will be on the bottom end of AC's crossover line up. By the looks of cats website it looks as though they will be releasing 2 more crossover machines. Hopefully cat will design and build these 2 machines.

Yep at the rate they are going ACs hole line up will be rebadged Kymcos with in a few years. started with the 90s and now they are up to the 450cc quads..
Not saying Kymcos are junk but if i wanted a Kymco quad thats what i would go buy as it would/should be cheaper to buy one straight from the people that make them rather then a third party..

Yeah thats why that one article says its made by Kymco and it looks like a 366...lol

LOL "relax", thats funny like Iam all worked up over it or somthing....

It’s powered by a 443cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single that Cat shares with supplier KYMCO. In fact, the entire machine is shared with KYMCO, which just recently brought the same basic model to the U.S. as the new Maxxer 450. Cat, of course, does its own calibrations and setup to the machine, but it is a shared platform built by KYMCO in Taiwan

2010 Arctic Cat 450 H1 EFI | ATV Sport..

Found this. As I have been saying, the 450 is a Cat Made Engine built in St. Cloud.

Nowhere in that small article does it say anything about where the 443cc engine is made. The fact that the Kymco Maxxer, the XC450I, and the 450 H1 EFI all share the same 443cc engine isn't a coincidence. Manufacturers never share engine sizes unless they are sharing a vehicle platform, or one is building engines for both or all models involved. The article you linked to proves nothing. Another possibility is that the 443 isn't Kymco at all. According to their website, they've had a contract with Kawasaki to build engines since August of last year.

lets not argue about engines all that matters is that its a cat and i want one. arctic cat, kymco, suzuki, kawasaki it dont mater to me. polaris could be making the engine for what i care i just like the looks of it.

I think the Kymco 500i looks pretty sharp...I'm interested to see the "Luxury Model" that has the high quality luxurious aluminum wheels (their words, not mine). The XC450i looks short and stubby to me, but that may just be in the pictures. I found an AC dealer about 50 miles away that plans to order one for the floor. Not that I could afford it anyways...

#18 ·
seat on the sc 450i is 33" from the ground

#23 ·
That's a little less than 2" shorter than the seat height on my bike, with its 1.5" lift, and 1" taller-than-stock tires. That's not too shabby.

#20 ·
maybe we should make an engine debate thread? this is about the xc450I please keep it on that subject not about who is making what and where the engine is from this could go on for days

#22 ·
again lets keep it on topic of the XC450I please these other comments can be made into separate threads about arctic cat outsourcing.

THANK YOU.

How "TRAIL-BLISTERING" can a 450 4x4 be? LOL!! I think I would want to push it out of my way on my 700 AC! LOL!! I rode with Wolverines and they are SLOW MO. I don't own a Can Am but I rode the 800 renegade once, and that will blister trails and I bet the 500 renegade will put a hurt'n on that too. We deserve more AC, How about a 700 and a 1000 crossover with a name like 700 or 1000 CROSS-CAT! LOL!! If you are hiring for a guy in Creative thinking with NO education, who is naturaly stupid, I'm your man. PM me Arctic Cat I got all kinds of ideas. Not to many of them good but some are original. They could have named that 450 crossover the "COPYCAT." LOL!!! I think Fairlane_68 coined that phrase first. LOL!!
I hope you realize I am stirring the pot, so nobody get bent over this please. LOL!!

I agree, Arcticcat can you see what we are asking for. What else do you build other than snowmobiles. We do need to shave a few pounds and invade the crossover market with a real atv not a Korean bike as you are badging. Give us the 700 twin with some nice pipe tunes, 4wd, suspension. Based on your MSRP for the Wildcat, people are not afraid to spend the money. We just want something we all cant build in our garage.

That depends on the power to weight ratio. The XC is 600 pounds dry, the 450 H1 is 685. Not exactly blistering...maybe more like "Gives trails the red-belly."

#26 ·
The XC 450 features a wide, stable layout, with a 47.6 inch width and a 48-inch wheelbase. The seat height sits at 33 inches. That makes it a bit wider and lower than the Scrambler. It rides on 23-inch Maxxis tires mounted on stylish black and silver aluminum wheels.

YO guys this aint a 450 race quad, lets try to keep this in the real world. I know for a fact I would be bored with that bike in about 5 min's. LOL!!! Red belly, I don't think so that thing would be more like that dance the FAT kid did in GOONIES, The Truffle Shuffle! LOL!!!! Come on you know you laughed! I realy think Can Am got it right with the 800 Renegade. I hate to say that, but it is an Awesome crossover. Hey I'm not 13 dreaming about a new 4 wheeler that I can try to talk my parents into buying by promising to plow the driveway and still look cool to my friends on my sporty 450 ute either. LOL!!!!

Still Stirring the Pot! BAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!

I am NEVER bored with something with 4 wheels and a motor. Never. If it moves, makes loud noise, or does man work, I'm never bored. 443cc does seem a little small, but I ride a 300, and it mmoves me just fine. 450 would be a step up for me. I like the idea of a 4WD what I call "Dune Jumper," but for that, I'd like more engine, and manual controls.

Shoot the only thing AC messed up on with this quad is not building it themselves and Farming it out to a overseas company.
The size should sell (except its priced to high) and for a 450 I hear it runs out really strong and should easly out run other 450/500 comparible quads.(not the CanAm 500 though)

Just the fact AC farmed it out is what I think is wrong they should be building their own quads/motors, it stead of bring in inferior quads and putting their name on them.
I also think they will come out with a 1000 model but just have not yet maybe they are still doing more testing since they maybe built it themselves...lol

Or lets hope they are not waiting for Kymco to make a bigger one so they can just copy it as well..lol

My wife would like this machine but I would have to agree with GMC there is no reason why Cat could not had come up with a more original design on their own rather than out source it just to throw something out on the market to make a quick buck. Don't get me wrong I love the idea that cat is putting their foot into the 4x4 sports class and the xc 450i is probably a fine machine, but I just feel that Cat should have spent the extra time and money and invested into their own design. thats just my 2 cents on the subject.......I wouldn't be surprised though if I either had one of these or a renegade 500 in my driveway sometime soon if my wife has her way....whether I agree with it or not its like they say...."Happy Wife Happy Life"

I've been waiting for this bike to come out for a few months. I think my wife would love it's smaller size compared to her 700 Cat. Supposedly my local dealer has one but needs to get it set up yet. I wish it was made in the states but I will still look at it for my wife to ride...

Kymco or Arctic Cat...my local dealer has a Kymco for $6599...my not so local AC dealer is selling the cat for $6699.00..when I go buy one I will take the cat. It's backed by cat and I don't think they would partner with a bad company and put junk out there. Cat has built a great reputation and I dont think they want to destroy that by selling junk or by just putting something out there. This quad looks awesome and I can't wait to buy it. ..it's a Cat bro..who knows maybe Cat designed it for Kymco and put it out there to get the feel on how they are going to sell? Why is everyone saying it the other way around?
