2007 700 efi SPEEDOMETER SENSOR??

10875 Views 12 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Tacopashka
on my 2007 arctic cat 700 efi the speedometer stopped working for the most part sometimes it jumps around a bit so I called my dealer and he said it needs a speedometer sensor and they are about $95 but he would sell it to me for $65 since my warranty just ran out. Has anyone ever ran into this problem? Did this fix it?

mine did the same thing before , turned out to be loose wires. Check the ones by the oil filler cap, thats where mine was. dont be in too big of a hurry because it keeps the odometer from working too!!

I have the same problem, anyhow my dealer is replacing the hole pod. I'll know next week whether it worked or not. Mine's still under warranty, lucky me.

When yo uguys are checking the plug by the filter, you may also want to take a look at where the wire harness is plugged into the pod connection. A lot of times there is not a solid connection there and certain things displayed will flash, quit working all together, or only work sometimes. If that's the case, it's an easy fix by taking the pod off and crimping the female terminals inside the harness to make a good connection.

Hey I'm sorry I forgot all about this. Yes it did, but when its done you loose all your milage and start from 0 agian. Good and bad, the bad for me is I am in compition with some hondas that have 6,000 miles on them now. And I'm on my third pod ( cause of a wreck) and my pod only shows like 100 miles. The good is I could sell it as a low milage 08. LOL!!!!!
i have an 06 700efi . i have the same problem .i tried everything suggested ,still doesent work????????????
Weird i have 2200 miles on mine and still on the stock pod and speed sensor
The speed sensor is not working right on my ride either...I mean 80mph with a 400...I don't think so...lol

Hey 80 isn't bad. LOL!!!!!! Mine said I was doing over 100 when riding around my house, it even hit like a 170 on the powerlines. I probably have the fastest 700 Arctic Cat in my area. LOL!!!!!!

2009 700 EFI LE speedometer not working. I replaced the speed sensor, checked connections on the pod and the speedometer is still not working. This is not a digital speedometer, it has a needle showing the speed. Switching to RPM mode, the needle moves accordingly. I checked all wiring and I don’t see anything loose or frayed. I really dont want to buy a new pod. Any thoughts?

Do you know which color wire is the speedo value for the gauge? Set your meter to continuity mode, use some alligator clip end and some sewing needles to stick into connector ends. Check and make sure wires from speedo connector to sensor don’t have breaks in them. Also, check resistance to ground in wiring.
Those two tests should give you a clear indication if there is any worn through insulation and you have solid wires from one terminal to the other. BTW, lots of people have had wiring rub through on frames. Check areas where harness makes bends and has movement especially at steering column.
