I just got my 400 running for the first time and I'm new to the Cats. I have only ran it around the yard and down the street a few times with not more than 10 minutes riding and 5-8 minutes at idle. The cooling fan has not come on at all, which has me concerned because I see no temp indication on the cluster.

Is it normal for the fan to not run under these conditions? When I had the fan off, I jumpered it to make sure it works OK. I realize that with it being an air cooled oil system it may be alot different from a water cooled machine. Just wanted to get you guys' opinion.

Thanks a million!

X2^^^ About the only time it'll come on is if you're working it real hard or going very slow a long time.

x3, I wired a switch into the fan circuit. I can flip it on whenever i want, especially if I'm doing some slow trail riding.
