Hey I’m new to this forum but I need a little help and I thought this might work,I just got a 2004 f6 and it has a really bad idle, I adjusted the idle screw and it will idle nice for a little bit but once you rev it up it will want to idle at 3000, I’m pretty sure it’s the throttle position sensor but I don’t know if it is bad or if I can just adjust it, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I’ll assume it’s carbed.

Those flat slide Mikuni’s (when new) had enough slop (excessive clearance) around the slides to allow a Kenworth tractor trailer to drive through unscathed. Over time, they become worse and allow even more air passage ways for oxygen to get in besides going underneath the slides cutaways.

Factor in possibly light restrictions in low speed (pilot circuit) jets and you can very well have the issues you are describing. Maybe even the fuel mixture screws could have been turned inwards slightly?

Could also be slight air leak somewhere on the engine, maybe something else even?
