I have a 2002 AC that is acting really wiered. When the key switch is in lights off position it will misfire but when it is in lights on it will run fine. It does this only occasionally but when it happens it is when:
It is Under load
Leadlights are off
It has been driven for over a half hour
Going up steep hills (engine is tilted)

Any help is appreciated....

Check the voltage at the battery when it is running. I think your voltage regulator/rectifier is shot. Tell us what you get

Sorry for the late reply, I was busy. So here is what I figured out,
According to the service manual it should be pushing 14-15.5 DC volts at the battery. It was not.
I then tested the Charging coils per the service manual. It said that at 5000 rpms it should be at 60 AC volts.
At 500 rpms it was about 77-80 AC volts. Is this ok? Also the resistance tests were supposed to be .1 to 1.0 ohms. The test resulted in 0

It’s your voltage rectifier/regulator I would say.

Thank you for your help. You where right, it was the regulator/rectifier. It now puts out about 14.5 DC volts @ 5000 RPMs!
