Does anyone have a detailed diagram that shows the wiring from the switch to the headlight? I have the one in the Chassis Electrical section of the service manual but it just show a plug to main harness. The switch is good (even replaced it cause I figured that had to be the problem) and the old one tests fine. Is there a relay somewhere that the switch picks to turn on the light?? Pretty sure all 3 lights on is not normal

I remember someone posted once how to actually do this mod. It was pretty simple but I don't remember the details. Our 99 is only the 2 outside ones on with High Beam. I'd probably leave it as is unless you're worried about frying the stator.

Ben, thanks for confirming that I am not loosing my mind, not yet at least. Really looking for a wiring diagram that shows where the the wires go from the hi/lo switch. Kev mentioned that there may be a mod to do what my sled is doing now. Maybe someone can explain the mod, that might help me track down the short. I could leave it the way it is but don't need to kill my stator

What about some digital pictures from my sled?

In any event, if the machine was okay before we need to figure out what changed between then and now.

Any mods that you can think of that you have done recently (new bar warmer, thumb warmer, face sheild socket???)

I could be as simple as a bad ground.

Let me know if there is something I can do to help.

Probably not a short as much as a problem with the high/low switch. I noticed on my 900 that it was doing this as well. I took the switch apart and put some new grease in there and reassembled and has been fine since.
