I'm no expert but I've got a stock 2001 ZL 500 EFI. On GPS on a very firm lake, it hit 83 mph. It does have a 1.25 paddle track which will slows me down some. I believe around 85 hp stock probably a bit more for you since yours has aftermarket reeds. You are already clutched which I understand to be the best bang for your buck. Not sure what else to say except there is no replacement for displacement. Have someone mod it to a 600 for you. I guess it is fairly easy to make the 500's a 600 as I think they mainly just have a different bore. Hope this info is helpful to you. Good luck and think snow.

since am new researching on sleds since i just bought my first one. i didn't know these sleds were so slow. my dads z440 fan cooled can get up in the low 90's bone stock. i just thought the bigger cc sleds would be breaking the 100-110's

Down a 90 degree ski slope maybe.

fixed it for you

The ZL 500 is a solid 90+mph sled

I had a 99 ZR500 and it would top out a little over 90 on the lake. My first sled was a 96 Z440 and there is no way it would even come close to 90 stock. I think the low 70s was about it.

My old stock 99' ZR500efi with 19/40 gears would run mid 90's on the speedo on a road we affectionately call "100mph road".... probably low 90's in reality.
The only mods to that sled were the gears and 96 studs.
