I'm posting this for a friend.

He has a 1999 ZL 500. You can start the engine with this thing with the key out ie the ignition switch does nothing.

I swapped the ignition switch out for a new one and it didn't make a difference.

The kill switch button is broken off so he can't get the machine to turn off unless he chokes it out.

It's a very bizzarre situation and I'm scratching my head.

Any thoughts?

(PS The problem was happening before the kill switch got busted)

Your missing a wire or its cut. Pull the pad off the stearing and check there. and check under the plastic where the ing. and choke are. If he dont want to choke it, he can pull the plug wires-lol.

Check for broken ground wires near the recoil housing area.
