I have 2 1980 jag 3000 f/a and want to replace the chain oil. I have the manual but dont see anything explaining how much lube the chain case needs. Anyone know how much i should be filling it too?

No dipstick, just a bolt about 3 inches from the bottom that says "oil check" would i fill it until it starts to leak from that hole, then replace the bolt obviously? It just seems like it needs more oil than that. I dunno maybe im over thinking it.

i sucked mine out from the top hole till dry at teh bottom and added the 8 oz container from arctic cat until it comes out the hole in bottom, then replace both plugs. it does not need much oil, the chain will sling the oil all over the box, but this oil does seem thin? i have a post on this.

It just amazes me that people ask how much oil it takes, you tell them either 8 or 12oz depending on the unit and they want to fill it, yet most of the bottles come come in 8 or 12oz. I'm glad I do my own maintenance.
