If the track fits the 1980 to 1984 6000, then it will also fit the 78/79. The chassis is the same and so is the skid frame, for the most part. The only big change from the 1980 model was the early 6000's were a 440cc engine. All other changes were cosmetic. Keep hunting...

I am looking for a new track for an 81 Scorpion Sidewinder. It was made by Cat and I think based
on a 78 El Tigre. When it quits raining I am going to go outside and count the track openings.
The track on there now seems a little short. I'm not sure what is supposed to be on it. How many
cogs on your drivers ?

Thanks

Tom[/b]
Scorp Sidewinder track would be the same as 80-81/84 6000's- I don't have any new ones, but I have used ones that have some life left in them.
