My '04 650 V-twin is not wanting to shift gears at idle. It feels like the clutch is not backing off at idle. I suspect that the engine brake is engaged and holding the clutch in. I have intermitently had a whining sound at idle that goes away when you rev the engine enough to engage the clutch. I thought it was coming from the engine brake mechanism. But I opened it up and can't find any indication of problems with either the motor or the fork or anything in the engine brake. Has anyone experienced a similar problem on their v-twin? The engine has about 4,000 trouble free miles on it. Any suggestion?

I think there is a fuse for the engine breaking. Shut the machine off, unplug it, and see if that works

Mine did the same thing and had to get a new servo motor for the brake.
