  1. 95 ext 580 miles?

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
That is close to rebuild time, in my opinion. In fact that's close to going over *everything mileage. 6000 is the max I'd want to go on a 580 without going over everything...and that would be a well maintained one. *by everything, I mean engine, clutches, bearings, skid, etc.
  2. 3 amp efi fuse blows when warmed up ?

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
Can you measure the voltage at that fuse when cold? Then check again when hot? Also, to be safe, I would probably ohm the stator wires too.
  3. 02' Arctic cat ZR 900 EFI CCE How to get more MPH

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
Quick question on the gear ratio's above...will a 72p chain work on all of the above gear combo's? I know a 72p chain was used with the 24/39, the 26/41 and the 25/38. Just not sure about the others.
  4. 1996 ZR 580 efi blowing fuse

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
I know its a pain, but if it were me, I'd go through all the wiring looking for broken or melted wires. Also make sure all the grounds are good, make sure all connections are solid and secure. At least, I'd start there.
  5. 2020/2019 Front Spindles

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
Yes, its kind of misleading and not the first time its happened.
  6. 2020/2019 Front Spindles

You will likely get a better response if you can post this in the Procross section. Unfortunately, most viewing this section have older ZR's.
  7. Efi to carb

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
Yes forgot about needing the carb fuel pump (external to gas tank) and the fuel line with pick up, as GregB mentioned. Unlike the ZR 500, 600, 800, 900 cranks, the 580 cranks are the same.
  8. Efi to carb

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
I have not done it. But from what I have read on this forum from others that have, you will need the following: Carbs (obviously) Carb t-stat housing Carb stator/magneto CDI box Carb wiring harness Choke lever and cable Carb throttle cable...not 100% sure on this one. If you have a carb donor...

  10. 96 ext 580 carb rpms

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
4500 engagement on the ZR 580 with the Green/Yellow spring is normal. But the EXT 580 with red spring should be around 3800. I would also check the conditions of your clutches. Any flat spots on the rollers and weights? Springs not broken? Bushings worn? If the clutches haven't been serviced in...
  11. 2001 ZR800 Skid Rebuild

Glad you figured it out! (y)
  12. New 30mm Primary Team Clutch on 2001 Mountain Cat?

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
I'm not sure if the taper for the Team Clutches? For a stock 2001 800, it is 1:10 taper.

  14. New 30mm Primary Team Clutch on 2001 Mountain Cat?

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
As long as that clutch is a 30mm and your crank is an 01 crank (which is also 30mm) it will fit. The 02's and up were upgraded to 33mm
  15. 2001 ZR800 Skid Rebuild

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
Does that skid have TSL's? (Torque Sensing Links). It looks like it doesn't, but it should.
  16. Mikuni float needles

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
+1 to what 2 hottie said. Here is a complete carb rebuild kit (for both carbs) from Dennis Kirk for $74. Comes with the float needles and everything else to rebuild both carbs. https://www.denniskirk.com/parts-unlimited/carb-rebuild-kit-1003-1462.p175079.prd/175079.sku
  17. Z440 or Z570, what should I get ?

    General Snowmobile Discussion
Congrats. Note that at 4000-5000 miles, you should go over the entire sled and at very least put a fresh set of rings in them.
  18. 1994 Arctic Car ZR 580 - CLUTCHING HELP

    Arctic Cat Snowmobiles
It will help with lowering the finishing RPM's. Ultimately you just need to lower your peak RPM by 200. If you have the lighter spring, toss it in and try and see if it works for you.
  19. Grinding weights question

    Z/ZL/ZR/ZRT/Tcat/EXT/jag/cougar
Thanks. I did take note of you mentioning that in your earlier posts. That is a pretty neat trick. I should mention that I handed this sled down to my 14 you son last winter. Its a probably a little too 'peppy' for him, but he did demonstrate last year that he responsible on it. So going for...
