  1. No Front Drive

    General ATV Discussion
You can remove the actuator and clean in internally. It might fix it. Order a new one if you want 4 and 2 wheel drive. If you disassemble the actuator, you could probably rig it so that it is in 4wd all the time, its a pin that pushes outward into the front differential. The actuator must be...
  2. Won’t start with elec starter till warmed up

    General ATV Discussion
Could be a number of things. Connections, tired or dirty starter, cold weather.. Buddy owned an 04 400 that would not start via the starter when it was below freezing temps. He hit the starter button and pulled the rope at the same time and it would fire. Start with every connection, next hook...
  3. Sled choice

    Procross 2012-?
Okay, location does make a difference for sure. 137 may not be enough.
  4. Sled choice

    Procross 2012-?
Id opt for the 137. Snow contact difference is 2 inches less than a 141. I have the 129's ( 2015 and 16) coupled and getting the ski's in the air is tough to do. The biggest obstacle you have is "price range". The 137 is a great sled and put a track on it that fits your riding style. The sled...
  5. 1998 arctic cat 400 4x4 wont go over 26mph

    Utility ATV repair, maintenance, troubleshooting
It very tricky. It looks like its in place but it isnt. Some people toss the diaphragm in the freezer to shrink it. I get all 4 screws started and then push up on the slide, wiggle the top from side to side a little then tighten the screws. The gap should be equal all the way around.
  6. 1998 arctic cat 400 4x4 wont go over 26mph

    Utility ATV repair, maintenance, troubleshooting
There is a diaphragm on the top side of the carb, if it isn't seated perfectly, you'll only get about 1/4 throttle. They are a bugger to get in perfectly. If it leaks air, it wont go up even though your throttle lever is pinned.

  8. backfiring

    General ATV Discussion
If its been modified as in exhaust gutted and re-weld back up, backfiring is common. Backfiring is caused by a lean condition in the carb, dirty pilot metering system plugged comes to mind. #2 an exhaust leak, anywhere from the cylinder head to the muffler or a cracked header pipe. 2005 500...

    General ATV Discussion
You can add thru the dipstick, no problem.
  11. Bikeman muffler. Yay or nay?

    Procross 2012-?
Most muffler changes dont require a clutch change and may alter the peak rpm hp. But a clutch kit is a nice add on for sure. I have a Speedwerx on my 2015 el tigre ZR8000 and it seems to add a little mid range pull ( not a ton) but the overall shifting is much better and my MPG's went up. It...
  12. Piston talk 2013 f800

    Procross 2012-?
I've ran all brands and never had a problem. I'm a nut when it comes to a long warm up though. I go with OEM most of the time. If the sled is over 10 years old and I want to save a few bucks, I've put SPI or Wiseco in and again, never a problem. Piston failures aren't the brand, its jetting (...
  13. Bikeman muffler. Yay or nay?

    Procross 2012-?
Stick with stock. Most (if not all ) aftermarket mufflers lose h.p. To lose weight on a sled, take off the electric start and the battery if equipped. Nowadays if it doesn't sound stock, you'll get pulled over and checked. If it passes, that certainly don't mean your all set for the day. You...
  14. 2016zr6000lxr Starter removal. how to?

    Procross 2012-?
Our 2016 ZR 6000 LXR was in for warranty work this past spring as the season ended. Ours would not fully engage the ring gear and do a bit of grinding. Sled started easy enough with the pull rope, so I waited until the season was over. They replaced the pinion gear and pinion stopper ( as its...

  16. 2018 Can Am 570 V twin

    General ATV Discussion
My brother bought one recently and I had a chance to put a few miles on it. Nice machine for sure. Its a 2018 DPS in mossy oak. Looks nice too. Positives: rides nice, quiet and smooth, looks nice, good brakes, priced nice. negatives; Its a tad smaller than the average ATV, tires are fair at...
  17. Can't read my ATV VIN number.

    General ATV Discussion
A 2011 rusted that bad? This might be a stolen atv. I'd sand that area lightly to see if you can get the vin to "appear". In my state, ATV,s come with a title. If you didnt get a title with the ATV, then you might be screwed. What state did was it sold from? and what state are you in? Or country?
  18. Choke Cable Delete? CVK 34 Arctic Cat 400 FIS 4x4

Ok, gotcha. With that style it will be hard to reach but will work for sure.
  19. Choke Cable Delete? CVK 34 Arctic Cat 400 FIS 4x4

    Utility ATV repair, maintenance, troubleshooting
electric chokes are not without issues. When they go south, at least there is a primer lever on the side of the carb so you can still get it fired up. I'd get a new cable and get a cable lube tool, spray a silicon type spray , WD-40, or something designed for cables, Route it away from exhaust...
  20. “VOLT” and “EFI” sometimes flash on my screen!? Trouble starting when this happens.

    Utility ATV repair, maintenance, troubleshooting
Look at the wires that come from the ecu, pay attention to any connectors especially the wired/back side of the connectors. Sometimes the wires will pull out of the connections. So look those over really good. "Volt" flashing can be a bad voltage regulator and even though it reads the correct...
