Hey all-

ZR800-
Iv been looking at a 2002 ZR800.I like it. It has D&D Twin pipes, D&D breather box, D&D Crabs, 196 Studs on 1 inch track and others things too. And it has 1300 miles on it. He wants 3g's for it. I would like to hear what people think about this sled. Are they a nice ride? nice sled? fast as hell haha?

F7-
I found an 2003 F7 with 2800miles on it and the rest is stock. The guy told me he was riding on the side of the road and it tiped over into the ditch and caused a couple small scruffs on the hood. No that bad. The track is 1 1/4 no studs. He is asking 3400.

I have the money to get which ever one, but like to hear what ppl think about it. Im losing a 100cc's on the F7 but at the same time the F7 is a year newer but has more miles. I heard that the 2003 F7 were the fastest year made. THANKS

The 800 is no slouch, but in the end the F7 is better. F7 is lighter, faster. Although the ZR is a great handling machine, you can'y beat the power to weight the F7 has to offer, and $3400 isn't a bad price. Hell I have an 05 F7 that I'm trying to get rid of with a 2 place triton lite for $5000 and have had no takers so far.

The zr800 will ride better, handle better and may be more reliable in the long run. With the twin pipes it should be a good running sled and probably beat the stock f7.
Be sure the bulkhead isn't cracked on the F7 and that all the updates have been done including the chaincase bearings. Personally for the money I'd go with the ZR800 and thats coming from a F7 owner.

My buddy gas a ZR800, maybe a limited edition with better suspension. It has a shock adjuster by the handlebars for the rear. I think it is a nice sled, plenty fast, pretty light and looks good too. So basically it comes to whatever you want. Both great sleds, but the ZR already has some aftermarket mods which may be a plus. Like the other guys said, if you go with the F7 make sure all the recalls have been done.

I have an 02 zr800 cross country edition sled. This sled flies and is very stable. Point and shoot. The F sleds are tippy at speeds, but nothing a little body english can't take care of easily. I've ridden plenty of Fcats so I can honestly say both are decent. The F-cats are more of ditch bangers think rm 250, and the zr more trail think xr 250. Both fun, but different. I also have an 06F7.

The 03 was the first year firecat and was a little too high strung to keep itself together. Thats why they dropped the compression down in later years. Are aftermarket exhaust a problem in your area? The power breather I found annoying as hell. The F-cat is stock which I would rather have over something someone messed with.

Don't think of it as losing hp with one over the other. Stock the both have about 140 hp, but the pipes can add 12 to 17hp

Also, I would avoid any sled that has crabs.

LMFAO, he meant carbs. Great deal on the ZR, if you can get it for $2700 with about 500 in mods that's a ZR800 for 2200. I've got a 03 F7, and it needs a seat and some more top end for me. Great trail sled that you don't have to wrestle with like the zr800. I had a ZRT800 that was a heavy pig, but whooped all with Simons pipes, clutch kit, jetted right on the lake. Your call, though. F7 is nice too, but you should get him down on the price alittle.
