Sealer on crank seals?

I'm about to start my first rebuild on a 2001 ZL 800 motor. One thing I am on the fence about is whether to use the case sealer on the crank seals as well. I know that it is designed to be a dry fit, but seems to me like it wouldn't hurt. Apparently others have done it. I'm a fan of the "belt and suspenders" approach. Is there a good reason not to?

I never have but it is recommended to put some high temp grease around them. See what Cat recommends about it. If you have to take it apart it will be hard with sealer on it.

When I did my full rebuild on my sled a couple summers back, I used Hondabond on the case halves and I used it on the parts of the cases where the seals go too.

I've used the case sealer on the outside of the seals, where they sit in the case. The grease goes on the inner seal, where it seals around the crank.
