Aux fuel tank on EXT?

Back when I had my first 91 EXT special (back in the late 90's) I clearly remember it having an auxiliary fuel tank under the back seat, under the tool compartment flap. Does anyone else remember this? I have been searching hi and low for information about this and can't find anything.
I'm starting to think I was imagining it, but I'm not. Because I clearly remember calling the dealer about it back then to ask about its purpose.
Hmmm...
