ATV: Arctic Cat 2003 500cc Auto MRP
2003 500 Auto Primary Drive

While replacing the belt on my 2003 500 Auto, I found that the fixed drive face - the inner part in front that the belt rides on - wobbles on the shaft with belt off. Should it? There appears to be no bearing inside this part.

So, no it shouldnt move. And there is no bearing. Its supposedbto turn with the shaft.

check the hut on the primary and make sure it is tight.. That inner half of the primary is held tight by the color that goes over the shaft that the movable side moves on and is all held tight by the nut...

Missing splines

I finally found a picture of what it should look like, it had splines to match it to shaft, mine are gone, l can't tell they were ever there.

well thats a first... whats the shaft look like if it striped all the splines off the fixed face? im not even sure how that would happen if everything was put together properly

Iíve seen this before. The shaft should be fine as itís hardened steel and the sheave is aluminum. I have a good used set of primary sheaves for sale if your interested.
