chaincase breather?

I'm new to AC's, I just bought a '14 XF9000, I'm going over the sled and noticed there's a nipple on the to back of the chaincase, there's nothing on it, should there be?

I looked up the parts fiche and the older machines seem to have a tube listed but the new ones don't

You can hook up a hose if it make you feel better, 1/4" ID if memory serves. There is only 15oz of fluid in the chaincase and the likelihood of it coming out the tube is slim.

When life hands you lemons, don't make lemonade.
Shove em down the throats of your enemies!!!

Not sure why there isn't a tube anymore. They did recommend putting a loop into the breather tube when sleds did have one. The loop was supposed to help prevent oil from easily dripping out.

The nipple without a hose does leak a little when you tip them on their side for a bit. I just put a rag around the nipple to catch any loose oil. They seem to be fine when regular riding. Have not seen any issues unless tipping the sled.

We stopped to eat and noticed other riders coming in with snow jammed in their helmets, jackets and gloves. They had snow everywhere. We looked out the door and couldn't see across the street. Six inches of snow fell while we ate a few burgers. That was the start of a great ride.
