Bio Diesel is good for injectors, etc. Ethanol belongs in single malt Scotch. Seems like, around here Bio is scarce.
A few years back, well right around 2004 where I use to work we was trying out bio-diesel on a few of our company vehicles. I was in the shop one day talking to one of the mechanics and he was all upset and I ask him what's the problem?

He said oh that new damn fuel their trying out is clogging up these fuel filters and shutting down these vehicles. So I started doing some research and found out that bio-diesel is a cleaning agent, it was cleaning out the fuel system from all the years our trucks have been using the regular diesel. So I told some of the mechanics what I'd researched and got the deer in the headlights look back then.

I told them that after one or two changes of the fuel filters that all should be well, but they discontinued the test because the shop mechanics was bitching about it to much. My 2003 Dodge Ram Cummins was only about a year old back then so I never had any problems with the bio-diesel cleaning out the system of crude to stop up my filter, it was not old enough.

I wished we could get 50/50 here and like I said a few years ago I was able to get B-20 and I never had any problems running that, very good lube for injectors and the whole fuel system as mentioned.

I have done some research on the Ram forums. 2% bio diesel is the best additive for lubricity. Nothing comes close! Now I'm going on a search for B100. Like to keep 25 gallons here at home just to use as an additive. Anyone who is thinking about buying a Ram Ecodiesel or a Jeep GC should check out "Green Diesel Engineering" They can reflash your ECM to eliminate EGR, add about 40 more hp, lots more torque AND, 2 to 4 more mpg! I'm astounded how good the mpg are now. With the tuner, my first tank= so far been 595.9 miles, EVIC shows 293 left to go. 26 gallon tank! EVIC shows 33.3 mpg. Some of this driving was in horrible bumper to bumper Boston traffic. I believe it will be a bit higher, like 34 mpg. BTW, owner's manual states with if no bio diesel, change fuel filter at 20,000 miles, but more often with bio.

Went for a long drive today, now the EVIC says: 34.9 MPG. I have already driven 741 miles, EVIC says 150 left! 890 miles on a 26 gallon tank. I know it can do better! After being stuck in Boston traffic for 2 hours, now I know it may actually be capable of 36 mpg! EVIC read 37 mpg before I hit Boston gridlock. Curious if anyone here has an EcoDiesel?

If someone wants one of these, they better get one soon. I believe they are no longer offered for sale. It appears Dodge is suffering the same fate with these trucks as VW did with their TDI's a couple years back. Too bad, because I haven't heard one owner complain about the Eco Diesels.

I just saw Ford will now offer a diesel in a 150 chassis.

Ram is bringing them back, btw. 2020 models will have more hp and torque and the eTorque hybrid system. So far, still loving mine! Running the GDE Tune. Only when it's near 0F does the mpgs seem to suffer. 26-28 mpg with winter diesel, but I have a 275 gallon tank of summer #2 diesel that I run if it's over 10F, then I can still get over 30 mpg. With the tune, it's nearly as quick as the hemi, at least my company Ram with 3:21 gears, my diesel has 3:92's. Surprised how easy to service the Ecodiesel. Changing oil and filter is a snap, changing fuel filter also very easy. You can save a lot buying filters on eBay or Amazon. If anyone gets one, pm me, I can give you some tips.
