Snocheck numbers

So when do they announce the 2020 snow check sales numbers? My bet is cat sled sales overall will be down in 2020 and marketing will need to open it up to dealers to place stock orders again. Or close the sled assembly line for a month or two! It will be interesting.

They won't open it up because they want to get carry overs sold. My dealer sold more sleds this year than the previous 2. They as in Cat surpassed there goal. Brilliant strategy. I ordered new because of there price strategy alone.

Wow I talked to my local dealers here and they said 2020 sales were slow. Before the deadline they were concerned because if they snochecked for stock there was no dealer financing and the warranty started on delivery. I guess itís good for some dealers with an inventory, cat must have a large stockpile overall! Sales were solid this year and their own inventory low so there isnít a huge selection of non current sleds to pick from. Brilliant or crazy the end of year numbers will tell the tale I guess!

My dealer cleaned out a couple of other dealers of their leftover 19's.

He had nothing left for the folks that stop in and want to by a sled now.

That is where this snow check only change hurts dealers.

My dealer usually orders 100-150 sleds, said hed going to order 5-6 this year cause they're on the hook for the full cost right away. Trying to buy up leftovers so he has stuff to sell, options, he said, are getting thin in that department.

Interesting to see how different the numbers are with various dealers.

I work with a couple of different local dealers. One has traditionally always carried high inventory. They also sell quite a few throughout the season. Their orders are over the top from previous years. Shockingly high numbers.
I also talked with another dealer that is a good friend. He doesn't typically carry much for inventory. His order numbers are actually down. We had good snow across our region this year. Many riders put on more miles than normal. Good snow normally means good sales numbers with the right product available. It is surprising how different the stories are between the two dealers.

I'm curious to see how the numbers total?

BTW, I'm glad to see this pricing strategy. I typically order sleds. That has been a tough hit at times. I also get it from a production planning perspective. It is much more cost effective in the big picture.

We stopped to eat and noticed other riders coming in with snow jammed in their helmets, jackets and gloves. They had snow everywhere. We looked out the door and couldn't see across the street. Six inches of snow fell while we ate a few burgers. That was the start of a great ride.

Most dealers here were sold out of last years stock and the same for this year. Not the same for other dealers in areas that haven’t seen good snow the past few years. There’s a lot of leftover ‘17-‘19 and even a fair amount of ‘16 nationwide. The snow check prices were insanely good and it’s hurting those trying to sell used and leftover 17-19 sleds. Interesting to see how that will be now that snow check is over and no more 2020 stock available. It’s going to suck if you want a new sled next season. Not many options if You decide You want or need a new sled during the season.

Now I was in the best snow area the last two years but I think I did very well on my trade. I was asking $4,600 and ended up trading for $4,500 on my 2015 ZR6000. I paid $8500 plus a few extras. I went all out this year as it will probably be several before I do it again but I said that two years ago. So much more fun buying a sled than a car, pickup or house.

That’s a bit low for a ‘15 ZR6000 if it’s clean and reasonable mileage. It’s about right for a spring deal. But if you had an ‘18 that you paid 13K for and want to sell it now, it’s going to be tough to get more than 7K for it given a new 2020 would be around 10K with 4 year warranty
