Question No power at ignition switch

Hi all,

Last week I had to put my ATV (yamaha wolverine 450, 2003) open for the first time to clean the carb out.
Put everyhting back togetether and worked like a charm for a few days.

We start noticing on turning the ignition on the screen had no power, a little bit shaking with the atv helped to give us power so we where able to start it but it always happends again until today it won't work anymore..

Already checked the battery when the ignition is off and it gives 12.8V, when ignition is on it drops to 1.6V.
Checked the grounds and they all seems good.
Also checked the fuses non of them look damaged, but when I get the '10a signal fuse' out the level of the battery keeps at 12.8V.

I don't know if the ignition got a fuse but I guess so because then again when turning the ignition the screen doesn't turn on and the electric starter also don't start the ATV.

Any hints on where to look further ?

Hook the battery up to jumper cables and to a battery you know is good and see what it does.. the battery will show 12 volts but when you turn on the key it's got to power the fuel pump and with a bad battery it's too much draw which will show up when you test it. with the key on the voltage drops way down and can't power the ignition properly

Hi arctic98,

Thx for your message,

I tried with an other battery (found somebody with the same atv), to check if this was the problem and indeed it was a dead battery..
A new one is already inside (topic is a few months old but don't see an option to close it).

Thx anyway to think with me! (and happy new year!)
