The trails in the Town of Webb/Inlet open tomorrow (Dec 8). Anyone know how the grooming is going? By looking at the webcams, looks like a lot of snow.

We are thinking trailering up our sleds up tomorrow to ride those trails. We purchased the permits so we are all set to ride.

Anyone have any info? Are we going to find rough trails and waste our time?

Snowmobiling Trail Conditions

The Town of Webb Snowmobile Trail System has opened for the 2008-2009 Winter Season on Monday, December 8, 2008.

The groomers were out grooming yesterday and last night. The gates are open and the trails are ready for riding. The following is a trail report for December 9th 2008:

The Trails have a 2-4 inch base and are overall considered to be in Fair to Good condition. It is important to note that we are early in the season and you should take care while riding and avoid all lakes and water. We never recommend riding on lakes or ponds as there is no such thing as safe ice. At this time the ice is only strong enough to hold a small amount of snow. Ride Safe And Think Snow!

Snodeo will be held December 12-14, 2008 in Old Forge.

We look forward to seeing you there! THINK SNOW!

Definitions for our trail report:

Marginal: Big Moose Road and South Shore Road bare, too warm to groom/not enough snow.

Fair: Temperature around 30 degrees, bumps across the whole turn and some straight away's also.

Good: Bumps in the groove only

Great: Flat Trails

It's still real early and not much base yet as the snow comes and goes. The weatherman was predicting some warmer temps W/ rain possible for Wednesday in Central NY so it might affect parts of the "North" country as well. Now, alot of Tug Hill & Redfield on the other hand are sitting on 3+ feet of snow and probally won't be affected by this mess we're "supposed" to have 'cause of the nice amount they got and it's been really cold the past few days freezing it all up.
We're headed to Tug Hill Saturday a.m. for the 1st ride of the season, report / pics (if I can learn how to post them bang.gif ) will follow probally Saturday night... Have fun, keep right! -- Snotty

Absolutesnowmobile.com is pretty inacurate- Magnum's site is usually way off! You're better going to trailconditions.com and clicking on the New York link. There is more up to date posts + local people who live there on it leaving better info. You'll find me there thumbsup.gif --Greg D.
