Right now i have an xr100. its gettin way too small. i was thinking of getting a 125 cr or yz but i think that might be a bit too big. i love the bike i have right now for reliability so if i could find an xr200 or 250 i would probably get it. but they are too rare.

i am 6'2 and 155 pounds. what do you think i should get?

get some meat on your bones and pony up for a 450...

i was riding a 125 at 16

yeah, accept im coming up from a 100 four stroke. the power difference would be too huge for a 450 and i definitely dont have the money. i might try and find a 2000 or earlier 125.

how is the reliability with the 125 two strokes.(because this isnt just a play bike, its my form of transportation.)

i had a xr250 for years and loved it (grew up on the xr's) definately will give you tons of fun. might want to look for a xr400 also, similar size and not quite as snappy as the 450. would steer away from the 2-strokes if you not too knowing of them (rebuilds) and it's your transportation.
here's a pict of my last honda couple of years ago.

the more research i do, the more im leaning towards a yz125. it all sounds pretty straight forward as maintenance goes. the thing i keep hearing is if you maintain it properly, it will run.

the only thing im worried about is getting premium.

Dont forget you have to premix the oil with the gas on a 2stroke. I bought a yz125 last year right when I turned 16, i had an xr100 before. My parents got me the xr and I wasnt happy cause it felt wayy to small for me. So I sold the xr, got the 01 yz 125, then my brother bought a very mint 96 kx250 with all new mcr suspension and I road it 2 days after I got the yz... well I sold the yz a week later... and today I just picked up my 02 KX 250. Lol...

Anyways if you plan on using it as a means a transportation than definatly a four stroke... Now if you want something powerful but not as big as a 450, then a 97-2000 cr or yz 250f would be a good bike and should be pretty reliable, as well as have some "balls" if you just want something mellow, but have more then your 100, then the crf150s are prety decent. good luck

well, i got a yz125. the only complaint i have about it is that it is not that good on gas. The four stroke mx bikes are brutal, almost 400$ for all the parts for a top end rebuild. ive done mine already and its only around 100 for everything.

Go strait too a CR125...or anything in that class...for ur weight and hight it should be perfect..i was riding a 01 KX 250 at 13-14 years old..i was only like 5'9 and maybe i was around 150-160 lbs...so a 125 should be perfrect..i rather get somthing a little bigger and grow into it then get somthing smaller and have to change bikes the season after..my .02 cents

If you're using it for transportation, the CRF 230f would be perfect. Good on gas and half decent power.

The YZ can be a good bike. If you rebuilt it, it should last a long time. Maybe you need to gear the countershaft sprocket 1 tooth up. It will cruise faster and may get better mileage.

+1
i was on a 450 at 16, and just bought another yesterday. All about getting used to the bike. set it up for your riding style. Maybe try out a 250F?

i had a 03 yz 125, fasttttt bike.. they are race bikes.. ment to be beat on and wound right out, i wouldnt expect them to be good on gas. if your looking for a bike for transportaion, i would definally go with a 4 stroke, 2 strokes are quick, short gear spans, were as a 4 stroke they are gear'd completly different. i have a 90 yamaha xt 350 that was givin to me, i bored it out and put a pipe on it, crazy fast and i can go like 2 weeks with out filling it.. its probably the same hight if not smaller than a 125, and its street legal.. def a 4 stroke for transportation
