I have a 1996 ext 580 efi deluxe and after i have ridden it for a while and u go and start it she dont wanna start. I have to give it throttle and it seems to start up fine but with the older efi i don't like to touchthe throttle when starting, any ideas?

Make sure you let your engine idle for about a minute before shutting it off. If you don't, gas is forced from the crankcase into the pipe causing the hard start condition.

is your battery up to par? if so check ALL ground connections. even the ones under the counsole(housing where the key is)

my wife has a 97 580efi same kinda problem. did you check and see if the red light is flashing on the ecu box when it is running. hers was and it was a temp sensor 75 bucks and brand new. my wifes got to the point where i had to let it sit for a hour before restarting. not saying it's the problem but easy to check.

You can go to wallmart and get a battery for that sled thats what I did they work fine and half of the price that you are going to pay at the dealer
when I had a battery go bad I could get it to start by holding the trotle but I couldnt keep it running
changed battery and it was all good

when you turn the key on and pull the kill switch listen for the fuel pump if you dont hear that that may be a problem
also if you run that sled with a bad or weak battery you run the chance of messing your motor up to
also could be bad injectors there are a number of things when you charge the battery charge it out of the sled there is a fuse link that will blow and leave you dead in the watter lol
I learned that the hard way lol well any way gl

My brothers 95 EXT EFI is such a junker. It falls flat on its face at around 50mph and chugs gas like nothing. Not exhaust, not clutch, not CDI, not stator and not computer. The dealer can't even figure it out. In a few weeks we're gutting the EFI and converting it to carb.

Battery or injector relay. Relay will rust out. I'm spekaing from experience.

Also keep an eye on the throttle body mounting flanges they like to crack under the clamp. You have to remove the throttle bodies to inspect them. I am speaking from experience. I have a 97 580 EFI that I scored a piston from this problem. The first sympton was that it did not want to start very good when it was warm.
