just wnet and checked it out at the nh snodeo, its light ! with that motor i think it would top out in the mid to high 80s but get there freaking quick ! i like it ! the hood is still hingeless and made of fiberglass just like the race sled
Timmy H
did you find out the exact weight, HP, and gearing?
f-5snopro
nope, but it seemed lighter than my old 500 f5 firecat
taperk600
did they have one to demo ?? Cat is in Old Forge next weekend and I want to get a rip on one to check out the chassis..........
f-5snopro
no demos, they just had the one sled and that sled did not have a throttle cable, lol . it did have a non apv motor with twin throttle bodies . it is a true race chassis though right down to the spring loaded skis .
taperk600
really....none to drive, huh ??? I was hoping to rip on one next weekend....now I might not even go...........

If it only has the 85 HP motor that's lame. There is no way anybody coming off the old 105 HP motor let alone a 600 or bigger is going to be happy with 85 HP. I don't have to go 110 mph, but it would suck topping out at around 85 mph and watching all your buds on older F-5's blowing past you on a long run. Just my .02

Twin throttle bodies?
corcey24
well both of our F6's top out at 90mph on a good day with the wind blowing you one is 2007 the other is a 2008. i would say they average 85mph so if that 500 did that not so bad. i would like to know the wheight of the 500sp compared to the F6's
jason_hildo
90mph? That blows, my 2005 Firecat F6 and my cousins 2007 F6 both go slightly over 100mph. Thats GPS speed and these are completely stock. No mods.
05F7 Sno Pro
The wifes 500 sabercat 85hp will run 90 with her on it. It's an 04 carb. runs decent for a chick sled
ZRT600tizz
this will probably be an awsome sled it will be light and it will be great for ditch banging
i wonder if it is geared like the race sleds
and if the 85hp is a problem i wonder what kind of mods will be offered

I went and talked to my dealer today who was at the show in Las Vegas, he said that it is an 85 hp motor but the chasis is really light and it is supposed to be quick I would guess top speed to be around 85-90 but like what was mentioned earlier, it will get there fast, it also comes with the TEAM clutch much like the actual race sleds. My dealer said that they were aiming at the type of people who were buying the yamaha phazers. I think that they have a 85 hp four stroke so I think that this will be twice as much fun as the phazer and those seemed to have pretty good reviews for simply being a fun machine to ride. But personally I think that I will wait a while to see if they come out with a 600 first, or even the 105 hp 500.
winksz28
they will weight about 450, They also fit in to the 85 hr class in cross-country racing, which is the entry level. I look forward to racing it in the I-500 next year

Just to give you a perspective on top speed, the 09 600 SnoPro sleds were clocked doing about 88-89 mph on Lake of the Woods during last weekends USCC race. During the first race of the day the winning Pro open sled did 3 laps in 25 min 45 sec. The winning semi-pro improved sled did 3 laps in 26 min 18 sec. The winning amateur improved Cat did 3 laps in 28 min 9 seconds. The winning amateur 600 racer did 3 laps in 30 min 27 sec. The winning sport 85 racer did 3 laps in 32 min 12 seconds. Keep in mind that the course had some changes in it before the amateur and sport 85 riders raced that slowed them down in at least 2 places on the course. The course also got rougher as the day progressed.

The top speed on the 500 SP should be just is little slower than the 600, just won't get there nearly as fast.

It not the top speed you should be looking at. My buddy has a Renagade 600 that only does 85 and my F7 will run over 100. But acceleration wise to like 60 his 600 is very close to my 700. It's all in the gearing. Now for the 85hp snopro 85-90 mph is great but it will have no power to pull it self through the snow. You jump off the trail and run through the ditch with a foot of powder in it and it will bog right down till you get back on the trail. They will have to run a 3/4 lug track on the thing so it can spin and keep the rpm's up. In my mind they should have just stuck a 120hp F6 motor in and sell a ton of them. Better yet bring back the F7 engine and make everyone happy!!!
