Just a heads up for those of you Canadians panicking because CAT head office hasnt mailed your recall letter yet for importation. Although it is recommended to get it early in the game, its not needed when importing your sled. I brought my sled in today over the Lewiston bridge and they didnt even ask for it. And furthermore, they didnt even LOOK at my sled in the crate. But remember you have only 45 days to get it and submit it to the RIV office to get your ownership. I was one of those freaking out because i still had not heard from Customer Service at Arctic Cat until the day before my scheduled pick up in Buffalo. I was reassured by Tina at Cat it was coming within a week. She is a bit backlogged at the moment. But she is very nice to talk to and helpful.
Here is Tina's Fax number and phone number at Arctic Cat Canada for anyone needing the recall letter for importing your sled INTO CANADA. Phone is 204-982-1656 and FAX is 204-832 0205. She will transfer your info into the Canadian A/C Dealers system so she will require your full name, adress, etc, along with the serial number and bill of sale. (mine was an ebay receipt from Minnesota)
Also a reminder to send your bill of sale and a copy of the ownership to the US customs so they can do a lean/stolen vehicle search 72 HOURS PRIOR to importation.
For those in my neck of the woods, the Lewiston Bridge phone # is 716-282 1500 #3.... and Fax is 716 285 3565 open till 4pm
and Detroit is Phone # 313 226 3139 , Fax is 313 226 5347 open 24/7
I paid no RIV fees at the border but will have to when my letter gets finished from Cat and need my ownership transfered. I paid less than $350 tax on a $6500 sled 2009 CFR8.. !!!
Good luck all.

Thanks Hoacha - I knew about this. I called RIV before I went down to get my machine and they told me that I didn't need the recall letter until I wanted to get the inspection form for the machine. QUOTE Also a reminder to send your bill of sale and a copy of the ownership to the US customs so they can do a lean/stolen vehicle search 72 HOURS PRIOR to importation. I still wonder about this...I did it on mine, but I think its a recommendation, not a requirement. When I stopped at US Customs, I had no sense as to whether they received my fax or not. I think they did the lien check when I got there (took 1/2 an hour to get through US Customs, took 20 minutes to get through Canadian Customs!). I guess better safe than sorry.

It's a legal requirement but it seems many don't do it. You could run the risk of being turned back. It took me about 2.5 hours on the US side at the Ambassador bridge when I did mine. About 20 minutes on the Canadian side. Asking me questions like did I buy it on eBay. If you say yes they will double check you're declaring the full purchase price and will impound everything if numbers don't match.

It was used and had 1600 miles on it. But for the $3000 i saved, i can live with the mileage!! Its in mint shape. There was no way i was going to pay 11 for a new one up here, so i was looking at 2007's. I was lucky when i found this 8 month old sled.

The R.I.V. inspection at C.T.C. is free. As the rep told you, it is included in the fee you pay to R.I.V. Nice to get a service that you don't have to lay out any more cash. Glad to hear you's guys are getting your sleds home trouble free. I have done the same several times. It pays to do your home work and have ALL your paper work in order. Happy trails lads.
