Smile Tcat 900

Having a constant under revving issue with a 97 tcat. Clutching is stock along with the motor. Main jets are 420. When the throttle is wide open I can only get around 7500. It does have an aftermarket stator. Just looking for any ideas.

Thanks

Could be many things. Is the primary weights and rollers in good shape? Has it been taken apart and cleaned and looked over? Springs not broken, stock gearing or geared up? If its an RM Stator I have seen them be junk right out of the box many many times. Best to ohm it out and see at room temp and not hot. All ground wires not corroded and making good contact. Throttles going all the way up on all 3 carbs? Muffler not restricted with mouse nest? These should all be checked. Try this link for the stator test:

Testing a stator in a snowmobile Arctic cat
The clutch was just rebuilt so should be good. I will check the carbs and wiring though. I have noticed the sled will hit 8200 when the motor is cold but as soon as it is warmed up its a no go for 8200.

That sounds like a bad stator. I would test it.

Find anything out on the stator readings or anything else?

No not yet. I'm in the middle of purchasing a 2002 Tcat. I will test it soon though. I'm thinking that's the issue. I talked to the dealership that I bought my 900 from and they put in a kimpex stator lol. Need I say anymore lol

Deal fell threw on the 2002 Tcat. I'm now looking at a 98 Tcat with 3800 original miles. I really like this one. Would go great with my 97 lol.
