Hi, I am going though the sled I just got for the kid's, There was no adjustment left on the Chain so I counted the links and ordered the same one. The chain is pretty tight but does have some play and I was able to get it on the shaft fairly easy. I put the tension in just so it was touching the adjuster. DO You guys think this will be ok?
I know its supposed to have a 72 Pitch with this combo but I only found out what gears I had after I ordered the chain.I figured since it had a 70 on there that was really loose that is what ID order.
I counted a bunch of times and always came up with 35 links on one side on both old and new. How much and how fast do they strech at first? What are my options? What can to tight of a chain do? What is to tight?
They don't stretch much. At first maybe after the first 100 miles but not more than say a 1/2 turn. After that they stay pretty constant unless its a grass sled with lots of power and even then, not so much.
You should have a 70 pitch chain for a 20/39 gear ratio. You have to put both gears on at the same time sometime in order for it to fit. A 72 pitch chain is likely too long and will take all adjustment and still need more.
No Problem I figured you were laid up, I just wanted to run it past you before I put the cover on and filled it with fluid. Ill run teh 70 it just seems pretty tight.
