Hi I have a 2000 ZR 600 Blair morgan that I just got, I am going over the sled and I was wondering how the adjuster on the secondary works. The clutch still has deflection adjustment shims in it if you take it apart, I believe there was 3. Thanks.
Yup, like he said. Its used to set belt deflection and has an allen screw on the unit to hold the adjustment or to be loosened to make an adjustment. Very simple,
I tried that but it is much harder to wind up the spring so I used one .060" and one .030" spacers and that will make it a lot easier and still leaves a lot of room for adjustment.
Joe, only leave enough shims installed to keep the two sheave halves from being able to contact together at belt contact surfaces at the sheaves bottoms of faces (to prevent galling, which will allow shavings to imbed into belt possibly)
That's how I set mine up, usually a single .030" or single .060" shim does the job.. Depending on production castings tolerances.
The Allen screw referred to is one that makes the adjuster ring "clamp onto threads" once adjusted, and not let ring rotate.. Should be 3/16", maybe even 5/64" (or somewhere in that range)?
