Removing Scuffs / Cleaning Up Windshield?

I have a 2000 AC Powder Special 600 that needs the windshield "prettied" up somewhat. The windshield is a smoky colour with minor scratches and one scuff (I left the hood open and the windshield rubbed on my table saw)...

My question is how can I remove the minor scratches and especially the scuff? I've heard one can use a headlight restorer and even some wet-sanding very fine sandpaper to spice up the windshield... any comments?

I use a 3" mini buffer and polishing compound.
Orange rubbing compound on the gouge. You can wets and with 1200 but hard to get the scratches out.

Thanks for responding! Do you have any specific product names you could recommend?
