Track skipping teeth, drive sprocket??

I have a 1994 cougar 440 lc and when I take off I will hear noise and feel like my drive sprocket is skipping teeth. I did tight my track more but it still doing it. If I spin and hit some hard snow it will skip big time. Is it normal? Track look new and so is the drive sprocket.

Any advice???

maybe you have some inner drive lugs missing on the track Causing the slip. Or it just needs to be tightened more

Have you had the rear suspension out lately?
When's the last time you took the chaincase cover off and looked at the gears and chain?

Pull the cover and look at the chain. I have seen them skip enough that they fracture links and then they rotate and it will skip again. Since you have been skipping a while, I would inspect the links and replace the chain if they are bad, but otherwise tension it up and ride if all looks good.

Found the problem, my tightner was all the way to the loose side. Modified the ratched to extend the setting range, tight it back. Loosen back my track so I can fit my finger between the slider and the track, adjust the suspension to the softest and WOT no more skipping. Thanks guys!!!
