Sled: zr 600 2001 carb
07-08 Mileage: 30
i've had a terrible week with my z 600 2001. i worked 4 days ..i should say night...8 pm to 1 am average...to get my sled going fast. i had no top speed.
I were sure it was a carb problem because i had snow into my carbs intake and one plug looked wet. took it apart, cleaned the carb, reinstall then test ride. it was better but was totally without top end. stuck at 100kmh. sled looked too rich again so i lean it but still didnt do anything on top end. changed the e-clip to #2 position.better middle still no top end. so went to dealer and bought a new belt. while breaking it in, the sled restart to bog an wont go over 60kmh.
i completely remove apv, reed, carbs, cleaned everyting with carb cleaner and compressed air. i
had loose my weight filter in the gaz tank and there some scrap in it. i tought it was stuck somewhere and the gaz kept comin in. tear apart the gaz pump. bring everthing back. still no top speed and when warm it was no middle/top speed..
i've finaly checked the servor motor of my apv because i did opened it to clean the magnet Inside. OMG it was runniing reverse. it was always tilting to try to get into postition with rotation.. tried 2 hours to make it run then went to bed.. my wife couldnt stand anymore to hear the sled start (1am).
Woke up, took a coffe, went on some forum and finally found it could either be the crank posiiton sensor or just misposition of the magnet box... i were aware it could be that sensor cause last ride i almost lost my crink/magneto cover...
i tried to change the servor pulley 180degree before anythoing else and Voilà.
For everybody who mess with the power valve servo be aware of wrong side operation after reassembly !!!!!!!!
now the sled work perfect. im going tomorrow play in the POW..we just had a 8'' snowfall yesterday atop the 16'' this week.
Its gonna be chewy in the woods :-)
i had a plastic piece
