z 570 Engine

what should I do before i run this 570cc fan cooled engine seeing that it has sat for a couple years. I know I will run premix initially,,,but should I try to get some oil or something else in the engine (crank/cylinders) before I start it, thanks. It doesn't look dry at all based on the cylinders.

Get rid of ALL the old gas!
Drain the tank, clean the carbs, replace/cleanout the fuel lines and pump.
Then and only then. premix one tank and check the oil usage.
DO NOT leave any old gas in there!

You could pour a little oil in down the cylinders if you want.

Go with new fuel lines filter, the whole 9 yards. Take your Y pipe off and carb boots so you can get a look at the pistons. I would put a little A/C oil in the Cyls. and turn her over a few times. after you disconnect the fuel lines.

If you have spark she will run after the fuel.system overhaul. Make sure to check your compreshion after you get her all back togeather. Almost forgot make sure to take a close look at your carb boots when you remove them.

I know a little bit about 570's.

Not less than 125, and you should see 135 or better.

The biggest thing with a compression check is to not put oil in the cylinders before the check, it'll seal up the rings and give a false reading. Another is that the two cylinders should not be more than about 5-7 percent different or about 6-9 psi.
