1998 oil injection tank motor

Just bought a powder special for my son, previous owner states he thinks the oil inject pump was not working so he unplugged and mixed in tank how do I check to make sure it is working?
it is a 98 600 powder special

By the way, it isn't advisable to just run premix. The shaft that drives the water pump and oil pump get lubricated by a dedicated oil line from the pump to the bottom center of the engine case. Running premix, oil does not get to this shaft and in my opinion, failure is just a matter of time. There are mods you can do so that you can run premix if desired. It can go a long time on premix without the mods, but I'd get it fixed. During the snowmobile season, you can probably buy a used oil pump for $20

Oil pump

Can you hear the oil pump run if you hook up direct to 12volt,
Because when I do it I can't hear it run.
