99 ZL 500 backfire

Hey I have a 99 ZL 500 I've had about 2 weeks now the first week i put around 200 plus miles on it now just this last Friday i was coming across the lake at around 60 let of a little bit to come around a corner and when i went to get back on the throttle it backfired like a rifle going off i was able to restart it with no problems got almost back to my house when it died again...then again started 2 pulls got back then first thing I did was drain all gas wiped down the tank and refilled with premium gas (93 octane) and sea foam went back out next day and when i went to get on the throttle it back fired 3 times in a row and died. next thing i did i talked to a guy told me to check the can and exhaust system for cracks or leaks and it was leaking out from the Y pipe gaskets so i replaced those no leaks went back out same thing carbs are clean as a whistle I have new plugs getting great spark equal compression.
Any body have ideas to help me out?

Not a carb expert by any means, just a thought....
Usually backfire is excess fuel.
What jets are you running?
Here's a good read from TY.

Might help!

Y pipes have been known to split open.
Have you bypassed your Throttle safety switch yet?
also, check stator resistance, green to black/red about 45 ohms and green to white about 450 ohms,
