so my sled started every second pull before, i just cleaned the carbs and now it wont start. anyone have this problem or any ideas for me? please give me ideas, i would bring it in but the place i know of is backed up for 3 weeks and like anyone else i need to ride asap.
This is what I do after cleaning the carbs is to remove fuel cap and blow in the tank for 10 sec. It will fill the carbs with fuel.
We call it taking one for the team .
hope this helps.
Some suggestions- Squirt fuel into the carb and pull. If NO start, lock brake and hold throttle in and pull cord. If still no start, take carb apart again and attch a small tube and blow thru passage/needles and make sure you hear hissing
check and make sure you still have fire, then do what wimpyt-cat said, bow into the tank keeping it sealed so the air pushes fuel threw the lines filling the carbs back up with fuel, works everytime.
you cleaned the carbs. there is no gas in them. 1) put a little trickle of gas down each plug hole. start it. if it stalls, repeat step 1 until it runs. happened to me today on a 440 Prowler. I put gas down the plug holes 3 times before she picked up prime and ran without help.
Ive found also if the fuel tank is almost empty the fuel pump wont completly prime. I.E. can pull your arm out to start, it will run but will lose prime over night. If thats your case then put a couple gallons in the tank.
so it worked the gas in the spark plug holes, i got it to start every time but i cant keep it running and now ive run out of gas to put in there so i will get more and let you guys know. thanks for the help!
take the carbs back off and make sure you have the line that comes out of the fuel pump hooked up where it belongs. just had the same problem on my cat. haha woops
Sounds like fuel lines. Is shutoff- open. if so, can you see fuel in the lines without air bubbles? Lock the brake, hold throttle switch wide open and try and start.
so i have put gas in spark plug holes and carbs were the air box is and filled tank, it starts but stops running. i cant find the shut off valve anywere can someone post a picture? and is it possible to shut it off with out knowing of it? help would be much aprreciated.
so ive tried pulling the boots off the carbs and hold throttle, and still not working. is the fuel switch on the fuel pump? it seems to me that there is no gas moving through the lines
Possibly no gas as it sounds like such. Follow fuel lines and make sure none are pinched and vacuum hose is in right location. If you blow air into fuel tank Covered with Saran, you should force fuel thru lines. Make sure plugs arent wet ( which I doubt). the 3rd hose to the engine should have fuel.
In my case, I would pull carb off and blow thru a small tube to assure passages are clear/open.
