2002 ZR 800 CC EFI gearing change ???

I have a 2002 ZR 800 CC EFI that my wife rides and uses to pull an Equinox Snowcoach for our kids. The problem is that the ZR still wants to run 90 mph and I am having problems keeping belts in it. My question is does anyone have any suggestions on a gearing change that I can make to slow the old girl down and be a little easier on belts? Right now I am running a purple spring and 0746-634 weights on the drive clutch, on the driven I have red/white spring and 55/53 torque bracket, in the case I have 24 tooth drive gear, 72 pitch chain and a 39 tooth driven gear.

Thanks

Geez, wish I could remember what the kit spec'd out at but I can't...........out of the box kit from Goodwyn was a great performer + extra easy on belts in both of my '02 ZR800's + my 900 twin.
IMHO, your dealing with more of a clutching vs gearing issue.

Running 23/40 gearing with clutching by Speedwerx.
77 gram Hammertime weights.

The most important item though is the SLP torque stop link. Well, that and aligning the clutches with zero float on the secondary. Also, check your engine mounts to see if they're broken.

I guess I should add that I don't need or want the sled to go 90 mph but would rather it have more power for pulling the sled. Thanks for the replies.

FWIW,
First off, Sounds like clutching issues.
If you're taking belts, primary is likely slipping causing excessive heat.
Primary spring may be getting weak.
Sheaves should not be "Smokin Hot".
A kit will freshin up things and put more grab on the belt.
I used the kit from MCB Perf. Basically a Goodwyn with some small changes. Search the web, they have a good website.
You might be able to drop 1 tooth on the top and still use your 72 chain, forget how much play I had in mine.
Also, make sure of your alignments & C to C's.

Good Luck!
and let us know how you make out.
