Hand/thumb warmer wiring help.

98ZL500...has stock controls on ProTaper bars and getting ready to put aftermarket hand and thumbwarmers on. I've insulated the bar to not soak up the heat so much already but questions about the wiring.

Heating elements on handwarmers is 3 wire, AC factory wiring is 3 wire....compatible?

Thumbwarmer is 2 wire, uses a resistor inline with a hi/lo switch. Anyway to wire this in to work with the stock switch or best to just install the one that came with it?

Oh and buddy of mine has a Polaris sled, just installed handguards on it and now when he flips the handwarmers on all the lights shut off. I'm guessing he shorted out the handwarmers while installing the brackets. Yea or nay?

I would use the stock switch. Hook Yellow to the common wire (hot) The green/white goes to high (lowest ohm reading - 8 ohm) and green/black goes to low (highest ohm reading - 14 ohm). If you read around 22 ohm then the other wire is the common wire.

Your buddy shorted a wire to the handle bar (ground)
