I have a 2002 ZR600 EFI CCE that i bought and didn't get a manual with it. I've had some guys say there is a wire to disconnect if you run certain octane fuel and fuel with 10% or more ethanol content. I live in MN and there is up to 10% ethanol in our regular unleaded but it varies. Do i need to disconect this wire and what does it do as far as performance goes?
On both of my 99 600 sleds there was a decal on top of the toolbox lid that showed what jumper to unplug to run ethanol blended fuel. I think this will richen the sled around 10%.
May not be a big deal on a stock sled, but if you have any mods you need to do this.
The fuel designation connector is a pair of wires coming from the ECU that connect with a bullet connector. The wires are gray and gray/white. For ethanol fuels you unplug this connector. This causes the ECU to inject more fuel to compensate for the lower energy ethanol fuel. It is possible that if you run ethanol and don't unplug that you could be running too lean and damage the engine. With a stock sled the factory fuel mapping is on the rich side and this probably wouldn't happen, but I personally don't risk.
