Ok, I'm not asking how to adjust the chain tension on my 99 ZR 500 EFI, that I process understand. My problem is, that the bolt does not seem to turn freely in the case. No signs of thread damage or galling. Just stiff. My question is, I would like to remove the bolt completely, give it and the threads in the chain case a good cleaning and then use some anit seize lubricant and see if my situation improves. When I begin to back out the bolt, it looks as if there might be some sort of thread sealer on the bolt used by a previous owner that might be causing my problem. If I completely remove the bolt will the chain tensioner drop? Can I just remove the bolt and re-install it? Or am I going to have to take the cover off, to do what I want. My chain is only a few seasons old. And I don't want to destroy it or anything else. Any input is apreciated.

You can pull it out. It is just a bolt with the end machined a little.

I wasn't sure, from what I saw in the manual it looks as if it wouldn't move or shift if the bolt was removed. But its always nice to have a second opinion.
